More than three thousand people live in Bairro do Torrão, in Trafaria, Almada.

The neighborhood began to form illegally about 40 years ago, and the condition remains.

Despite having a previleged view over the city of Lisbon, the houses are still missing proper habitability conditions or basic sanitation.

Every winter some of the houses on the frontline get destroyed in higher tides, and this night a tidal surge happened again.
