SOTA CABALLO y REY
Lisboa, Nov. 2020

The project starts with the 20th anniversary of the Law No. 30/2000, which decriminalized drug use in Portugal.
The users were no longer seen as criminals, but as individuals who needed professional help and healthcare, and the policies developed by the legal institutions promoted a national treatment response network .
Slums were destroyed, people relocated, health and social response were broadened, and the new law set the country and its policy to combat drug addiction as an example to follow.
I set off to register the drug addiction scene 20 years later.

The project aims to provide a frame of reference where the consumer population can review and recognize itself personally and socially, as well as to contribute to the perception of the consumption phenomenon, it is particularly acute in the context of the pandemic that we are experiencing, as the economic situation resulting from it will certainly determine the increase in relapses, as well as the increase in the number of users.
